DAVONSTART

Davonstart is a derived from "Daniel von Stephani Art" but "Davonstart" is also a German neologism that can be understood as a kind of "headstart." After years of using an old logo it was time to change it up a little. But as you might know for yourself - creative artists usually tend to fix up their own appearance way too late. After all, the customer is more important, right? So this is the old logo:
Grey with grey and a touch of grey. What was I thinking back then? I wanted to have an elegant and luxurious look with a playful line art. No idea how I managed to work with this logo for so many years.
Your own work or profession might change over time. And that might also change your perspective on things. The camera used to (and still is) the most important tool for me. However, I took on other jobs and work that is not camera based work (photography). That said, the camera should not be the main focus in the logo but then again - I love my camera! The solution I came up with: Combine the Eye of the artist, the colours of printing (CMYK) and a camera (lens) and integrate it in the brand name. What do you guys think?
Too much "eye", it almost looks like a cat eye.
Fixing up the colours might help? CMYK inspired.
Fixing up spaces. But still, a bit too much "eye" and to little "camera". A small dot might solve the issue...?
I am pretty pleased with the new logo.
A bold statement but complex in its meaning and visual identity.
